James D. Murphy, Jr. (Jim) is a graduate of Wayne State University and the Detroit College of Law. Jim practices law in the state of Michigan in both state and federal courts. He has been a trial lawyer for over thirty years representing individuals and corporations. The cases range from product liability, professional liability, toxic torts and personal injury to administrative law (state agency hearings, workers' disability compensation and investor-stockbroker liability mediations and arbitrations), and complex insurance coverage cases. Jim is a member of the Michigan Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Oakland County Bar Association and the Public Investors Bar Association. He has been an arbitrator for both the American Arbitration Association in negligence cases, and for the New York Stock Exchange in securities cases. He has made presentations in seminars on the subjects of product liability, toxic tort issues, insurance coverage issues in mass tort cases, and the use of mock trials in complex cases.
